Synopsis

Truly groundbreaking, Avatar will forever change what is possible in the filmmaking industry. Like Gone With The Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Star Wars, and The Lord of The Rings did during their eras, this thing has blazed a new trail and introduced new technology to the art of making movies that will last forever. Sure, the naysayers will cite the uninspired dialogue and cookie cutter storyline as reasons to dislike Avatar, and they would be correct about the weaknesses of the movie, but if they didn’t appreciate the brilliant creation before their eyes they just shouldn’t go to massive fantasy films in the first place. Director James Cameron is not a brilliant writer and he never has been, but he has an artistry that cannot be denied. Titanic was a gigantic technical achievement that combined amazing special effects with a story based on a true tragedy, and it appealed to such a wide audience that it became the most commercially successful movie ever. Avatar could top that because it is just as huge and just as creative, but it will appeal to an even larger audience when you factor in kids, who mostly found Titanic to be boring. This film has action, adventure, and romance, but the truth is that the best reason to see it is because it is so much fun to look at. I really liked this movie and it should be interesting to see what it influences in the future. (1/24/10)

It was great effects and you can see the technology involved. But the story line itself is a little old and used to death. It was long and felt like it because of the 3D. I do recommend it for the effects.

What a cinema accomplishment!

Somewhat jaded, I waited until the last minute. Am I glad I gave it a chance.

The actors' performances came through. The line between reality and fantasy was seamless. The 3-D effects were amazing -- the artwork gorgeous. The storyline uplifting. They deserved Best Picture.

This is where movies are going. Don't miss it while it's in the theaters... It's a memory you'll want to keep!

I saw it in 3D. it was good but not amazing. I kinda expected more because of all the hype. The story line was a little flat. It was kinda the same thing over and over again. however the visual/special effects were AMAZING! I had a slight headached when the movie was over from the 3D glasses.lol I would say go see it just to see it but it wasn't as AMAZING as everyone made it out to be. I am happy i saw it but i will not see it again.
the best part of the movie was the special effects. Pandora was beautiful and you can really see the creativity that went into it.. I just wish they had a better story b/c the plot was kinda slow. I got bored at times.
I give it 3 Stars!!

Must See. Great Movie. The effects were brilliant and the movie its self was wonderful. Worth the money and wait I watched it in 3d which makes it even better. The movie is practically 3 hours long and i enjoyed every second of it. Not one second of boredom. It was a creative masterpiece from start to finish.
