Another Jim Carey Performance

Jim Carey is predictable as always. Same facial expressions, same take on the classic. My biggest problem with this movie is that A Muppets Christmas Carol is the one to beat and this just could not compare. Jim Henson did such a great take on the classic that the animation of Disney just couldn't surpass the heart of the Muppets.
They did a great job sticking to the raw Charles Dickens story and brought out a really dark side of the story that others haven't approached, but it just couldn't make the cut. The only way this movie was absolutely stunning was through the animation in 3D, and to have to pay $13 just to see it at its peak is a stretch. The animation was ground breaking, but Jim Carey just couldn't deliver the Scrooge we were hoping to see. It will do well if they release it in 3D every Christmas, but DVD sales will be very disappointing.

3d wasn't working so I didn't get the full experience but it was still a good movie!

I want to say that I didn't have any more expectations about the animation of this movie than any other. I was very impressed with the quality and advancements in animation here. It was much better than 'Polar Express' with regards to textures. Everything looked as real as could be. My only regret was that I didn't see it in 3D.
Enjoyable to watch

Our family saw this movie on Christmas Eve (family tradition to go watch a Christmas movie). The movie was awesome! It was a little scary in the beginning, as it should be according to Dickens. I'm glad Disney stayed true the story, mostly. The only thing missing was the 3-D effects (since the theater doesn't have 3-D projector).
Very good

I loved the darker flavor of this story rendering. It really drove home the point of the man looking in his mirror and not liking what he sees. Jim Carrey with his optic expressions and facial ticks made the origin of Ebenezer's fear and pain come alive. For the first time, Scrooge becomes a sympathetic being, deserving of pity and prayer. I loved this movie and it was well worth my money and time.

I think the detail by Disney on this film was incredible. From the footprints in the snow, to the reflections in the windows, there was not one detail left out. Even though I can't stand Jim Carey, I thought he did an excellent job. Great movie, and I would definitely recommend seeing it in 3D!

Not Good for the Kids...

I did not like this at all... I took a group of kids to see it from ages 5-11 years old and two of them had their hands over their eyes, seriously scared... It was way too scary for the kids in a lot of parts...
And some of the adults that went with me fell asleep, me included... It was incredibly slow in most of the movie and I just didn't enjoy it at all...
By Far the Scariest

When going to a Disney Movie, one anticipates that maybe it will be good for children to see. Not so with this version of A Christmas Carol.
Children under about age 13 are likely to be traumatized by this. Very little comedy is part of this movie that in very vivid detail reminds the adults in the audience of the morbid cruelty of the 17th and 18th Century England (and much of the rest of the world by extension).
The movie was very well done, and probably a very honest adaptation of the classic story. But the graphic representations are extreme and will create nightmares in children.
The ending does little to resolve this. It would have been better if there could have been a strong story line for the redemption of our main protagonist Mr. Scrooge. Sadly, it was not adequately addressed and leaves the story unfulfilled in any significant way.
