MovieWatcher Network Guidelines

Be Nice. Talk About Movies. Have Fun.

First and foremost, we want you to have fun with your posts and comments, but there have to be a few guidelines we put in place to make sure the MovieWatcher Network Community is a friendly place for all.   The motto to follow is: Be Nice. Talk About Movies. Have Fun.

Please read the following to see how we differentiate between Public, Red Band (Mature) and Banned content, as well as our policy for choosing content to be featured throughout AMCEntertainment.com and reporting questionable content.

The following also pertains to any content you add to the site such as, but not limited to, profile information, blog posts, video, pictures, embeddable widgets, etc.

Public Content

The default setting for member content is “Public.” So when you publish a blog or review post or a comment in the community it automatically becomes viewable for everybody to see; even if your profile is marked private.

Additionally, Public content will be eligible for selection by AMC to be “Featured” throughout the AMCEntertainment.com site.

Red Band (Mature) Content

Any content containing swear words will be automatically marked as “Red Band” and will only be viewable by registered members of the MovieWatcher Network who are 17 years and older. This age distinction corresponds to the guidelines we follow for our in-theatre experiences.

Additionally, any content that makes it past our filters, but contains material of an extremely profane, sexual or violent nature will be reviewed by our Community Managers and the Community itself (see Reporting Content) for selection as Red Band content. So, while a piece of content may be public for a while, it could still be pulled back and marked as Red Band or deemed Banned Content and removed completely.

Red Band content will not be eligible to be “Featured” on the front page of AMCEntertainment.com or anywhere else throughout the site.

Banned Content

Any content containing words or phrases of an extremely offensive nature is not tolerated and will be grounds for immediate account suspension or deletion. This includes comments that disparage people based on age, sex, handicap, race, color, sexual orientation, national origin or ancestry.  Additionally, all pictures or videos that contain nudity are prohibited from being displayed on the site.  Please be careful when using anything that could be considered Banned content. It’ll make it easier on all of us.

Harassment or Trolling

Part of being a good community member is acknowledging that not everybody wants to be your friend. That’s why we discourage repeated requests to friend members who initially decline your invitation. Such behavior will be considered harassment.

Additionally, posting of other member’s personal information that is not available in a publicly viewable space online will be considered harassment.

Finally, frequent negative commenting (name calling, condescending comments or other responses of a personal nature) on blog posts that have little or nothing to do with the post itself, or excessively profane, violent or sexual comments, will be considered trolling and this behavior is considered harassment.

In whatever form it takes, harassment is ground for immediate account suspension or deletion.

FEATURED CONTENT

Every post and comment will have a way to rate it. Any post or comment with a significant positive rating from the community will be reviewed by AMC to be Featured on the AMCEntertainment.com site.

If your post or comment is Red Band, you will not be eligible to be Featured. However, the community can still rate your content and our Community Managers will be keeping track of those members who are most popular.

REPORTING CONTENT

This is your community too, so we’re looking for you to make us aware of any content that has slipped through our filters that could fall into the Red Band or Banned categories outlined above.

That’s why each post or comment will have a way to flag the content and alert AMC about it. Those who consistently report content accurately will be rewarded and potentially given greater access to community tools.

Community Managers will try to resolve any issue, be it harassment, trolling or otherwise in the fastest time period possible, usually within 48 to 72 hours.

However, if personal details are reported, this will receive immediate attention and will usually be resolved within 12 hours, given the time period it falls in (working hours vs. after hours).

BANNED & RED BAND CONTENT GUIDELINES

For the purposes of this document, “content” is described as any materials that are either created or uploaded by users of the MovieWatcher Network Community. This can include, but is not limited to, blog posts, comments, pictures, avatars, etc.

PROFANITY

In the case of the MovieWatcher Network Community, profanity will be immediately marked as Red Band. If a regular profane word slips through the filter for some reason, if flagged it will be immediately marked as Red Band.

NUDITY

Nudity will not be automatically flagged like profanity, but if flagged it will be immediately be deemed Banned content.

SEXUALITY

Content that is extremely descriptive of sex acts in a mature manner will be deemed Red Band. However, content that merely talks generally about sex scenes within a movie, should be deemed appropriate content for public consumption.

VIOLENCE

Graphic descriptions will be considered Red Band content. Examples of this will be many and varied, but generally the violent acts that are specific to a single person, such as rape, torture, bludgeoning, etc., will usually fall into this category. Additionally, any descriptions that appear to promote violence against others will be considered Banned content.

PUBLIC PROFILE CONTENT

Public profiles means all public profile details - friends, groups, blogs, reivews, movie queue, favorites (actors, movies, directors, genre, avatar, screen name, first name, last name, city, zip code, state and preferred theatre), review content, group activity and other community actions will be viewable by the public web as well as searchable. This is the default setting for profiles, but users can mark their profiles to be set as private.

PRIVATE PROFILE CONTENT

Private profiles will display a page that shows your avatar, screen name, first name, last name, city, state, zip code and preferred theatre. These items along with your favorites (actors, movies, directors, genre, theatres) will be searchable. The only way your other profile details (other than public content as outlined above) are viewable by anybody is if you add another MovieWatcher Network Community member as a friend and through search results. Once you have friended someone, your friend will be able to view your profile as if it were public.

USER NAME

User names that contain expletives will be automatically rejected. Additionally, user names of a sexual or violent nature will be reviewed by Community Managers and may be marked as Banned Content, which could result in account deletion.  We encourage community members to pick a user name that does not include any of the above.

 PROFILE DETAILS

Any Public profile that contains details with expletives, details of a sexual or violent nature will be reviewed by the Community Manager and will be marked as Banned Content, which could result in account deletion.  Deletion of expletives will return profile to Public status.
